We are a rapidly growing company and are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to join our team.
Job Summary:
As the Controller for CertaPro Painters of Central Arkansas you will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations and health of our company. You will be responsible for managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong background in construction or trade-related industries and a deep understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow.
Provide financial analysis and insight to help guide the management team in making informed decisions.
Develop and maintain financial forecasting models to project future performance and cash flow.
Budgeting & Planning:
Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with senior leadership, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational targets.
Monitor budget performance throughout the year and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Cost Accounting & Job Costing:
Oversee job costing processes, ensuring accurate tracking of project costs (labor, materials, overhead) for each painting contract.
Evaluate profit margins by project and provide insights into cost control opportunities and profitability improvements.
Cash Flow Management:
Monitor company cash flow to ensure liquidity and manage working capital effectively.
Implement strategies to optimize cash flow and reduce financial risk.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
Reconcile discrepancies and manage credit risk.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as industry-specific financial requirements.
Team Leadership & Development:
Manage a small team by providing mentorship and guidance.
Ensure ongoing development and training of the accounting team to improve efficiency and accuracy.
ERP & Financial Systems Management:
Oversee the use of accounting software and systems, ensuring that financial records are maintained accurately and efficiently.
Continuously assess and improve financial systems for better integration and operational efficiency.
Strategic Support:
Provide financial input for strategic initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, or expansion.
Collaborate with senior management on long-term financial planning and business growth strategies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2+ years of experience in a financial management role, preferably in the construction, trades, or service industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and job costing.
Proven experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow management.
Expertise in financial software and ERP systems; experience with QuickBooks online is a plus.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
